To all who see these presents: Greeting! This is Bob Rutherford and this is my inaugural blog centered on the topic of marketing whole products in the govenment marketplace. In the coming weeks I will be discussing the parallels between commercial and government sector marketing and will be specifically commenting on the procedural elements of the DoD contracting process and how best to shape a capture within the confines of the defense acquisition environment. For more from me on this topic see my case study at the Technology Marketing Center.
As a starting foundation, let me offer a short summary of my professional background. Before joining the private sector as a business development lead in the defense aerospace industry a year ago, I served 29 years in the U.S. Navy as a carrier based naval aviator. I enjoyed a diverse career that included leadership positions in deployed combat operations, flight test, and major defense program acquisition management. In subsequent postings I will be addressing such subjects as the opportunities and challenges of emerging unmanned aerial systems technology, requirements shaping, and the trends evident in the larger strategic market drivers of national security policy. I am looking forward to sharing my perspectives on these and other pertinent topics and hope you will find them entertaining.
